He has served as Chief Executive Officer and President of UPMKymmene Corporationrationsince January 2004, and he was Member of the Board of Directors of the Company since 2007. He has also been Member of the Group Executive Team since 2001. He was Member of the Group Executive Board of the Company from 2001 until November 1, 2013. He joined the Company in 1987. He held several management positions at UPM Paper Divisions between 1987 and 2001. He was Chief Operating Officer of the Paper Divisions, and Deputy to the President and CEO at the Company between 2001 and January 2004. He is Deputy Chairman of the Board of the Finnish Forest Industries Federation, Board Member of the Confederation of European Paper Industries and the East Office of Finnish Industries Oy. He is also Chairman of the Board of the Finland Chamber of Commerce and ICC Finland. He was previously Chairman of the Board of Ilmarinen Mutual Pension Insurance Company until December 31, 2015. He holds a MS degree in Engineering. since 2013.
