He was Independent Member of the Company Board since 2010. He was Chairman of the Company Audit Committee. He was Chief Financial Officer of Metso Oyj from 2003 to 2010. He also served as Executive Vice President, Deputy to the President and Chief Executive Officer of Metso, and as acting President and Chief Executive Officer of the company. He was Member of the Executive Team and Vice Chairman of the Executive Team of Metso Oyj. Earlier in his career, he was President and Chief Executive Officer of Metso Minerals Oy and of Nordberg Group, Rauma Oyj as well as Executive Vice President of Rauma Oyj . Since 2016, Mr. Vaartimo has served as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Kuusakoski Group Oy. He was also Member of the Board of Valmet Automotive Oy, was Board Member of Black Bruin Oy since 2016 and SampoRosenlew Oy since 2016 as well as Chairman of the Board of BMH Technology Oy since 2017. He was Chairman of the Board of Valmet Automotive Oy from 2003 until 2014, Board Member of Alteams Oy from 2008 until 2014 and Northland Resources SA from 2013 until 2014. He holds a MS degree in Economics. since 2011.
